Following the signing of a joint venture agreement between The Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) and Bauerfeind ME’s affiliate Orthopadie Technik Berlin (OTB) at the UAE pavilion of the Expo 2020 on the 24th of November 2021, we are pleased to announce the opening of the facility on March 7, 2022 at the Khawarizmi Training Solutions in Bahia, Abu Dhabi.
The initiative will support the people of determination (POD) by training them in manufacturing prosthetics and orthotics using cutting-edge technologies, providing training for PODs in the service of rehabilitation and homecare durable medical devices (DME), and enrolling them in an administrative, sales, and marketing program to cater to the needs of the healthcare sector in UAE. This initiative will empower the lives of the people of determination by creating a community of qualified and employable people of determination to take up opportunities in new fields that are available in the current employment market
Bauerfeind ME and OTB have installed a state-of-the-art milling robotic machine for orthopedics. The technological solution offered is able to speed up production times with accuracy and will be used as a central facility to service the needs in the GCC region.
Additionally installed is the Computerized Numerical Control (CAD CAM CNC) machine to scan, shell, design and produce insoles, among other production machinery.
The shared vision and goals of OTB and ZHO also include the promotion of tolerance and mutual respect among those with disabilities and those without, by creating a work environment conducive to productive endeavors. Our shared intent is to encourage more organizations to adopt a policy that employs a certain ratio of their manpower as PODs.
